In the men’s doubles Croatia is guaranteed to have at least one player in the final, as the team of Mektić and Pavić are set to play Dodig and Polášek in the semifinals on Thursday.
The Croatian duo of Nikola Mektić and Mate Pavić are through to the semifinals of the doubles draw at the Australian Open after beating the French team of Nicolas Mahut and Pierre-Hugues Herbert, 6:4, 4:6, 7:6, on Tuesday.
They will play fellow Croatian Ivan Dodig and Slovakia's Filip Polášek for a place in the final, after Dodig and Polášek beat the Australian duo of Matthew Ebden and John Patrick Smith, 6:4, 2:6, 6:4, earlier in the day.
In the women's doubles, Croatia's Darija Jurak and Serbian Nina Stojanović are also through to the semifinals after beating the Serbian-Italian team of Aleksandra Krunić and Martina Trevisan, 6:7, 6:3, 6:2. They will play the Czech team of Barbora Krejčíková and Kateřina Siniaková for a place in the final.
Meanwhile, at the Phillip Island Trophy WTA tournament, also in Melbourne, Petra Martić is through to the quarterfinals after disposing of Australian Kimberly Birell, 6:1, 6:3, on Tuesday.
