Upon arriving to today’s government cabinet session, Deputy Prime Minister Tomo Medved announced, new decisions that will help the population in the earthquake-affected area of Sisak-Moslavina, part of Zagreb and Karlovac counties.
Speaking about the activities of the Government and the Earthquake Recovery Headquarters in the past three months, the Croatian Veterans Minister and the head of the Earthquake Recovery Headquarters, Tomo Medved, said that the Government has made 32 important decisions related to repairing huge damages.
He announced that at today's session, the Government will make a decision which in April will extend the write-off of electricity payments to the population of Sisak-Moslavina County. In addition, he announced the continuation of the measure of exemption from paying the Radio-Television fees for the next three months.
“There are also decisions of the Ministry of Transport which exempt the population of this county from paying for railway transport and tolls from Zagreb to Sisak,” he said.
Medved announced that the Government will today raise the amount of budget funds for the urgent renovation of apartment buildings and family houses from 12 to 16,000 and 25,000 kuna, respectively.
“We are aware of the fact that these costs are higher than those we have paid so far. Our goal is to enable facilities that have minor damage to be repaired as soon as possible, and there are about 20,000 of them,” he said.
He announced the beginning of intensive rehabilitation of such facilities by the beginning of May.
“We want to enable residents to return to their homes by the summer,” said Deputy Prime Minister Tomo Medved.
