The vaccination of 70,000 Croatian tourism workers, both full-time and seasonal, against COVID-19 is set to get underway on April 15.
Tourism and Sport Minister Nikolina Brnjac made the announcement following a meeting on Friday with officials from the Croatian Institute of Public Health.
Also discussed was a plan to vaccinate 90,000 private accommodation providers as soon as possible, in accordance with the vaccination priorities for the tourism sector, the ministry said in a statement.
Tourism workers will be divided into two priority groups: one covering staff who come into greater contact with guests and other staff, and the other including employees who do not come into contact with many people, such as office workers.
Minister Brnjac said it was very important for Croatia to position itself as a safe destination. Together with the Stay Safe in Croatia project, the vaccination campaign will work as an additional guarantee to tourists that Croatia meets all the prerequisites for safe summer holidays.
