On Thursday government forwarded to parliament a final proposal for aid measures to the tourism sector, by which it would reduce membership fees in local tourist boards by 12%.
Government also decided to exempt businesses operating in state owned facilities that have been shuttered due to the coronavirus measures from paying rent. State Assets Minister Darko Horvat called on units of local government to follow suit: "Not just cities, but all units of local government that own business premises. So, I call on all of them to follow government's lead on this."
Meanwhile, Tourism Minister Nikolina Brnjac noted that her ministry has taken on a serious burden in trying to provide relief for those operating in the tourism sector: "So far, the Ministry, through exemptions for tourist levees and fees has helped the tourism sector to the tune of roughly 210 million Kuna."
