The Central State Office for Croats Outside of Croatia has issued a public invitation for the allocation of 250 scholarships to learn the Croatian language in Croatia during the next academic year. Registration is open until July 1st.
Members of the Croatian people can apply, along with their spouses and friends of the Croatian people and Croatia, who nurture Croatian identity and promote Croatian cultural unity. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, have completed secondary school and reside outside the Republic of Croatia, or have residence in the Republic of Croatia not more than three years.
Those chosen can study Croatian in Zagreb, Split, Rijeka and Osijek. The scholarship covers the cost of the course, provides for meals up to two per day and partially covers the fee for living in student dormitories or in private accommodation with 400 kuna per month and will be paid to all students who successfully complete a semester.
Scholarships will be approved for all language levels for one or two semesters of study.
Scholarships will be awarded by giving points for several criteria, for example acquired higher education, candidate motivation, successful completion of a Croatian language semester in the previous academic year, active membership in the emigrant community, etc.
Applications can be submitted in electronic format by filling out an online form available on the website of the Central State Office for Croats Outside of Croatia.
The list of applicants chosen will be published on the office website within 30 days after the invitation to apply expires.
