Croatian public health authorities reported on Wednesday 204 new cases of the coronavirus and two deaths related to Covid-19.
Despite the uptick in cases from earlier this week, the infection curve remains on a downward trajectory from the peak on September 4, when Croatia set a record of 334 cases in one day. The number of active cases in the country is 1,268. Hospitals are treating 278 patients; 27 of them are on ventilators.
Split-Dalmatia County and the city of Zagreb continue to lead the country in new cases, with 52 and 41 new cases, respectively.
Croatia has stepped up testing, performing more than 6 thousand tests per day.
More than 5 million people in Europe have been infected with the coronavirus since the pandemic began. Covid-19 has killed more than 227 thousand people in Europe, according to AFP.
