A court in Skopje, North Macedonia has found three people guilty of the murder of Croatian handball player Denis Tot, sentencing Angelo Georgievski and Klementina Levkovska to 18 years in prison each, and Andrej Kostovski to 16 years.

Tot was killed in front of a Skopje nightclub last April. The 27-year-old was playing for a local handball club at the time. He and the threesome were involved in an argument in front of the club. Goergievski struck Tot and he fell to the ground, hitting his head on the pavement. The group then continued to beat him. A video of the attack was captured by a security camera.

Tot died of severe blows to his head and body. The assailants did not call for help.

Police and the hospital in Skopje initially denied that Tot died of the injuries sustained in the attack and claimed that he died of cardiac arrest.
