Prime Minister Andrej Plenković confirmed that he had talked with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić in Brdo near Kranj and that he had told him to resolve the issue of textbooks for eighth grade students in which the existence of the Croatian language is denied.
“We just talked. I told him to resolve this issue concerning textbooks where the existence of the Croatian language is practically denied. He said he was familiar with it and would see what he could do. Another topic is the issue of missing people, of which there are more than 1,800. This topic is very important, we have delivered certain data to Belgrade and we expect information from Belgrade so that we can verify whether any of it is reliable or not,” said Prime Minister Andrej Plenković.
On the Bosnia and Herzegovina Election Law
The Prime Minister reiterated that Croatia is in favor of changing the election law in Bosnia and Herzegovina and said: "Komšić has his position, we have ours. We did not have a meeting, we just ran into each other. Croatia's position is clear and will remain so. It is for legitimate representation of Croats in the highest bodies. There will be no change."
US consent for French Rafale planes?
The Prime Minister also answered a question on whether Croatia would need the consent of the United States to buy French Rafale fighter planes and whether he had discussed this with French President Emmanuel Macron.
“Yes, we talked. There are no problems here. The contract is being finalized. I think some of these topics are leisure to someone, lest something go wrong. The process was transparent, systematic and serious from day one. I took care that there is not a single comma that will be questioned today or in a hundred years. Therefore, the contract will be signed – Rafale planes will come. If some consent is needed, and I'm not sure it is needed - it will be obtained,” he said.
