Nearly all Croatian nationals in Afghanistan have been evacuated from the country as the Taliban took control of Afghanistan's capital city, Kabul, and scores of civilians tried to flee the country.

Of the 26 Croatian nationals that were registered in Afghanistan, 22 have been evacuated, according to Foreign and European Affairs Minister Gordan Grlić Radman.

"At this time we have only four Croatian nationals there and their location is safe. Their only request is not to publish their names," Grlić Radman said, adding, "We are talking to our partner countries and we expect that they could be transferred to safety overnight or in the next two days at the latest."

Seven of them have arrived in Qatar where the Croatian Embassy has offered to assist them in their return to Croatia.
