The Croatia House in Subotica will house two institutions for the Croatian national minority in neighboring Serbia - the Croatian National Council and the newspaper-publishing institution "Hrvatska riječ."

Foreign and European Affairs Minister Gordan Grlić Radman and the State Secretary for Croats Abroad, Zvonko Milas, laid the foundation stone for the Croatia House in the autonomous province of Vojvodina in neighboring Serbia on Wednesday. The construction is being financed by the Croatian Government.

“The Croatia House should be a place of dialogue and promotion of tolerance, mutual respect, understanding between the minority and majority community, as well as between the Republic of Croatia and the Republic of Serbia. The Republic of Croatia will continue to support Croats in Vojvodina, in Serbia, and point out the importance of respecting and promoting the rights of national minorities, including the rights of Croats in Serbia,” Foreign and European Affairs Minister Gordan Grlić Radman said after the ceremony.
