The motifs of the national side of the future euro coin will be a chessboard, a map of Croatia, a marten, Nikola Tesla and the Glagolitic alphabet, but it is important to prepare all other preconditions for the introduction of the euro in Croatia on January 1st, 2023. The conversion rate will most likely be 7.53 kuna per euro.
“The process aims to introduce the euro in Croatia in 2023, in order to fully prepare, not only in terms of the implementation of our obligations in accordance with the European Exchange Rate Mechanism,” said Andrej Plenković, Prime Minister.
“All of our activities regarding the fulfilling of criteria for entering the Exchange Rate Mechanism II are in accordance with the plan,” said Finance Minister Zdravko Marić.
Croatian National Bank Governor Boris Vujčić said the Croatian National Bank would announce a tender for the design of the coins on August 2nd.
