Tourism Minister expects positive trends to continue in the post-season

Croatia has seen another record year in tourism. The Croatian National Tourist Board announced on Thursday that the latest data from the e-Visitor system shows a 1% upward swing as of the end of August.

The data presented by the Croatian National Tourist Board showed a 1% increase in tourist arrivals in the first 8 months of the year, when compared to the previous year, with a total of 17.5 million arrivals and more than 90 million overnight stays. The director of the Croatian Tourist Board Kristijan Staničić: "Of the top 10 markets, almost all recorded growth in arrivals, with Hungary recording the highest growth of 11 percent, followed by the domestic market of seven percent, and the Czech Republic of six percent."

Both Staničić and Tourism Minister Tonči Glavina expect the positive trend to continue into the post-season as well. However, Minister Glavina says new challenges are on the horizon: "Motivating guests will be an increasing challenge due to climate change, when we talk about motivating guests to travel in this main part of the tourist year, i.e. in the summer months, and the price of the overall cost of travel, and due to global economic and geopolitical circumstances. Therefore, we will continue to monitor the markets, react in a timely manner, and continue to work on our competitiveness, quality, sustainability, and year-round tourism."
