According to the latest data released by the State Statistics Bureau on Thursday Croatia saw significant growth in both industrial production and retail sales last month.
The State Statistics Bureau announced on Thursday that industrial production in Croatia rose by 5.2% on an annual basis in August. On a month-to-month basis growth minor growth was recorded. August also saw a massive 18.3% annual increase in retail trade.
This comes on the heels of Croatian National Bank Governor, Boris Vujčić, telling reporters at a two-day conference titled "Financial Markets" in Opatija that Croatia’s economic recovery from the corona-crisis is exceeding initial forecasts, with growth in 2021 forecast at roughly 8.3%.
Meanwhile, Energy and Environmental Protection Minister Tomislav Ćorić today put to rest concerns among citizens that the price of natural gas and electricity for households will increase this winter. Minister Ćorić rejected media speculation that gas and electricity prices would skyrocket in the coming months due to the corona-crisis: "The price hikes throughout Europe will not affect us in the next couple of months. As for the price of natural gas we expect it to remain stable until April. It's important that we bridge the winter months. As for electricity, we also expect a stable price over the next couple of months."
