Zagreb and Rijeka hold solidarity with Palestine rallies

A Rally of Solidarity with Palestine was held in two Croatian cities, Zagreb and Rijeka, on Wednesday. Organizers said that the protest is part of the global response to the situation in which Gaza is being mercilessly bombed and in which a massive number of innocent Palestinians are being killed.

Protesters against Israel’s indiscriminate bombing of the Gaza strip in Zagreb and Rijeka demanded freedom for all Palestinians. The organizer of the solidarity rally Emina Bužinkić: “We understand that the Hamas attack should be condemned unconditionally and we stand here in solidarity with all the victims of the Hamas attack. But we also decontextualize and we don't look at it in a vacuum and we look at this retaliation that is happening today in Gaza with thousands killed and thousands wounded. We have gathered here and are asking for an immediate stop, a ceasefire and the opening of humanitarian corridors.”

Ahead of the rally in Zagreb, the Zagreb police announced that would video record the entire public gathering in the city center in accordance with the Law on Police Duties and Powers.

In announcing the solidarity rally to the media Bužinkić emphasized that the protest is part of the global response to the situation in which Gaza is being mercilessly bombed and in which a massive number of people trapped in the Gaza strip are being killed by Israeli forces: “We condemn the apartheid, settler regime and demand freedom for all Palestinians. We are calling for de-occupation and decolonization. An immanent stop to this war. We call for peace and the establishment of freedom in the Palestinian territories.”

The Workers' Front also called for a peaceful gathering of solidarity with Palestine through social networks.
