Works on the Popratno viaduct, which is part of the network of access roads for the Pelješac Bridge, are drawing to an end. The viaduct is 223 meters long and will be part of the Ston bypass.

The entire metal framework for the viaduct, weighing a total of 2 580 tons was built in Croatia by Brodosplit. The bypass is being built by the Greek company Avax, which subcontracted works on the Popratno viaduct and the Ston Bridge to Brodosplit.

"All of the documentation as defined by the main project was completed in Brodosplit, all of the cutting, welding and painting was completed in Brodosplit and then the five segments of the structure were delivered to the site. After that they were connected here on site, and pulled across this valley with hydraulic pumps," said Brodosplit representative Matko Balić.

Croatia's road, maritime and aviation infrastructure is being put to the test this weekend, given the massive turnover of tourists to and from the coast. More than 75 thousand tourists and 17 thousand vehicles are expected on Croatia's roads and ferries this weekend alone.

"The lines are completely full, Stari Gard, Vis, Vela Luka, Supetar. We expect excellent results from the Supetar line, because there are wait lines both from Split and Supetar. So, we're at 77 percent of the amount of turnover we had in 2019, and extremely pleased with the results," said Jelena Ivulić from the Jadrolinija Ferry Company.
