The organizers of the Walk for Life, which took place in Zagreb on Saturday, emphasized that human life begins at conception. Therefore, they are calling for its protection through a just legal framework.
National coordinator Željka Markić stated:
“We as a society bear responsibility for the fact that abortion is legal in Croatia, and this concerns each of us. It does not matter whether I have personally had an abortion or whether someone else will. All children who are not born are part of our shared responsibility because we live in a democracy, and the law allows it in this country.”
Speaking about the gathering, Minister of Demography and Immigration Ivan Šipić said:
“It is nice to see so many young families. This ministry strongly supports both motherhood and fatherhood, with measures that are currently unprecedented in Europe. We are sending a clear message that we want a Croatia full of children, full of life, and full of families.”
Participants at the Walk for Life also heard testimonies from a young mother who decided against having an abortion at the last moment, as well as from a couple who adopted three children.
The gathering was also supported by Marko Perković Thompson, who performed and stated:
“Let us walk all the way to the law, because life is a gift from God and begins at conception. Let us not be afraid, let us be brave.”
This year’s Walk for Life is being held in twenty cities across Croatia.
