Two earthquakes, one moderate the other mild, shook the capital on Saturday. No injuries or damage were reported.

The first earthquake measured 2.9 in magnitude and struck at 10:04 am. It was followed by a 1.7-magnitude aftershock at 3:45 pm.

Seismologists reported the epicenter of the quakes was 10 kilometers northeast of downtown Zagreb.

This is related to the Zagreb epicentral area, which has been active in recent years. In the past few days, there have been several weaker earthquakes in this area. It is normal that there is still some seismic activity there and it is manifesting a bit more clearly these days, but these are still weak earthquakes,” said seismologist Krešimir Kuk, speaking on Croatian Radio.

Kuk added that this latest earthquake is related to the strong one that struck Zagreb nearly three years ago.
