In Croatia in the past 24 hours three people have died and seven new cases of coronavirus infection were registered, announced the National Civil Protection Headquarters at their daily news conference.
Minister of Health Vili Beroš said that in the last 24 hours 7 new cases of coronavirus infection were registered and that 3 people have died. 30,913 people have been tested, 700 in the last 24 hours. There have been a total of 216 coronavirus cases in Croatia. All three people that died had chronic illnesses. There are currently 21 people on respirators, meaning that there are no new people on respirators. 316 people are being treated in hospitals, 9 less than yesterday.
498 people have recovered and been released from institutions, 13 more than yesterday. 536 people that have recovered are at home, which is 39 more than yesterday. In Croatia a total of 1034 people have recovered.
“The current success is not by chance, it is the result of mutual deliberation and discipline, so we are of the opinion that it is not necessary to change a recipe that produces good results. Respect the need for physical distance, maintain hygiene and disinfection of spaces,” noted Beroš.
Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Davor Božinović said that in conjunction with measures adopted so far working hours have also been regulated.
“The decision on working hours was made, like the previous one, at the recommendation of the epidemiological profession. All decisions made here are made at the recommendation of experts and the profession. These decisions to ease measures were discussed in order to continue to successfully fight in the prevention of the spread of the coronavirus. All countries that underestimated the speed of spread and the consequences it can cause have had results that are far from ours. We are entering a new phase where there are also unknowns. All we have learned so far is that the virus is spreading rapidly and that there is no medical solution for it in the sense of a vaccine,” noted Božinović.
Krunsolav Capak, the head of the Croatian Public Health Institute, said that first the work of shops was organized, so that there was only one shift, because the intention was to reduce the number of people on the streets, who go to work, and to reduce the crossing of people in the workplace.
“They were open until 5pm, now that we have gained this credit of a good epidemiological situation and decided to ease some of the measures, one of the first measures was to allow people to be able to supply themselves after hours, to buy whatever they needed for them and their families. One of the first measures we considered was the extension of working hours. We have now extended store hours and now shops will be open from 7am to 9pm. We decided for this to be in two shifts, to avoid crossing people in the workplace, between 2pm and 3pm when the space would be disinfected and people would not meet. In this way, we have increased the mobility of people on the streets, there will be more people on the streets and traveling by public transport,” said Capak.
Capak pointed out that it was considered that on the other side of the scale, that mobility should be reduced somewhere.
“It seemed logical to me that it would be Sunday, but we can reduce it another day. It's not a problem, but we have to reduce mobility,” he said.
