Marking Victory over Fascism Day and Europe Day, a Social Democratic Party delegation led by party leader Peđa Grbin laid flowers and lit candles at the Tomb of People's Heroes and at the Partisan Cemetery in Zagreb’s Mirogoj cemetery. Representatives of the Alliance of Anti-Fascist Struggle also laid wreaths at Mirogoj.
“Today we are here at Mirogoj to evoke memories of all those who invested their lives and efforts to make Croatia an independent free European state today. Yesterday we also marked the day of the liberation of the city of Zagreb. Namely, on May 8th, after partisan units entered Zagreb, the Ustasha terror, crimes, atrocities, and cowardice ceased. The sun rose over a free Zagreb,” said Franjo Habulin, the president of the Alliance of Anti-Fascist Fighters and Anti-Fascists of the Republic of Croatia.
