The Pelješac Bridge is set to open in five days, linking Komarna to Brijest on the Peješac peninsula and allowing for unimpeded travel up and down Croatia's coast.

Once the bridge is open, travelers will avoid having to cross the border on the tiny strip of coast in Neum that belongs to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The government has decided the bridge will simply be called the Pelješac Bridge. Prime Minister Andrej Plenković described it as a major milestone.

"July 26th is a big day for Croatia. It is a sovereignty milestone linking Croatian territory, the official opening of the Pelješac Bridge. Everyone is invited. This is a project that with all the access roads and investments carries a price tag of 525 million euros,” Plenković said on Thursday.

To mark the occasion, the Croatian National Bank will release a commemorative 25 kuna coin on the 26th of this month. The bank will issue 30 thousand commemorative coins with the bridge motif.
