There were 179 new cases of coronavirus infection in Croatia in the last 24 hours. The proportion of infected among those tested is about 4.5%. One person has died. The highest number of infected people was in the Split-Dalmatia County with 48.

As of Monday, new, stricter measures will be applied in the Adriatic counties, because on the latest European corona map, published by the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control, the Croatian coast remains in the orange category.

“The situation in hospitals is favorable, except in some in Dalmatia where there is a slight increase in hospitalizations,” said Minister of Health Vili Beroš when commenting on the total number of people hospitalized last month.

“94% were not vaccinated, that is a fact that speaks enough about the effectiveness of vaccination. Conspiracy theories on the dangers of vaccination such as introducing a chip or creating magnetic fields fall under science fiction. I call upon those that have fears due to such information to seek answers from doctors, experts and among scientific based proof,” said the minister.

Given the increase in the number of newly infected people in recent days, especially in four Dalmatian counties, Prime Minister Andrej Plenković announced new measures for the Adriatic in order to maintain the tourism season.

“The headquarters will introduce additional epidemiological measures in that part of Croatia, in order to limit the possibility of the virus to spread, and in that manner control events with a bigger number of people and bigger gatherings,” said Prime Minister Plenković.

The new measures for the Adriatic counties, which are still orange on the European Covid map, will be in effect as of Monday. They refer to gatherings and the number of people attending.

“We are placing emphasis on the control of implementation of anti-epidemiological measures. Considering the intensity and the big number of summer events and gatherings on the coast, their control is only possible with a full engagement of headquarters’ and other services at the level of Adriatic municipalities, cities and naturally counties, that have the authority, for all gatherings and events that they evaluate to be difficult to control epidemiologically, to not issue approval for them to take place,” said the Head of the National Civil Protection Headquarters Davor Božinović.

“Several small flare-ups quickly change the picture of an entire county,” noted Minister of Health Vili Beroš and called upon people older than 80 years of age, of which 45% are not vaccinated, to get vaccinated.
