Personally, and on behalf of Parliament, Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandroković conveyed greetings to all citizens on International Labor Day, emphasizing that constant social dialogue and partnership between the state, employers and trade unions are necessary to improve the position of workers.
“By engaging all stakeholders in the labor market and working together, we can contribute to social security, social justice and economic stability of our homeland,” said Gordan Jandroković.
He recalled that workers in Chicago had paved the way for the recognition of their fundamental rights and a dignified life built on fairer working conditions on May 1, 1886, and pointed out that today, "in a time full of challenges", it is necessary to adapt to new working conditions.
“New circumstances encourage us to upgrade existing knowledge and skills and acquire new ones, in order to adapt as effectively as possible to changing social and economic conditions. They are also an additional incentive to continue creating conditions in Croatian society in which each of us will have equal opportunities for productive work and a decent life from their work,” said the Parliament Speaker.
The past two years have shown the great heart of Croatian workers
He recalled that May 1st is the feast of St. Joseph the Worker, the patron saint of labor and workers, and pointed out that this is an opportunity to express gratitude to all workers of various professions who in these demanding times do their work conscientiously, with dedication and for the betterment of their community.
“The past two years, marked by a pandemic and the consequences of devastating earthquakes, have shown not only professionalism, diligence and dedicated work, but also the great heart of Croatian workers,” said Jandroković.
