The Ministry of Education is negotiating with epidemiologists about the possible abolition of wearing masks in schools.

Radovan Fuchs, Minister of Science and Education, explained that the variant with self-testing gave a very good result.

“Right at the beginning, about 2,000 asymptomatic cases were identified in children, the number of infected students is falling sharply, last week we had only about 20 positive, and confirmed by PCR test,” he said.

That is extremely small, he emphasized, in relation to those numbers that ranged from 1,500 to 2,000.

“Now we have holidays and we are talking and agreeing on a variant to take off the masks for children in classrooms, we will, of course, have to coordinate that with the Croatian Institute of Public Health. In that regard, I think we are going in that direction and I hope that from next week we will be able to function in a way that children in schools will not need to have masks, but let us conduct the final consultations with epidemiologists, we are absolutely going in that direction,” said the minister.
