95 new positive coronavirus test results have been registered since Wednesday. This puts Croatia’s test positivity rate of 1.8%.
The latest data from the National Civil Protection Directorate marks a continuation in the strong downward trend in terms of new positive test results, hospitalizations and number of patients on ventilators. Since the beginning of the outbreak in Croatia in February of last year, Croatia has conducted more than 2.09 million tests, of which 358 918 came up positive. 350 008 of these positive test results have since been cleared by medical officials. As of Wednesday Croatian medical personnel have administered 2 219 196 doses of the coronavirus vaccine, with 1 428 340 people having received one dose and 790 856 having received both injections.
In a bid to encourage citizens to get vaccinated, the Croatian National Theater in Split is staging a performance on June 23rd at which the number of people allowed in the theater will not be limited and entrance will be free of charge, but only to those who have been vaccinated. The Director of the Split-Dalmatia County Teaching Institute for Public Health, Dr. Željka Karin: "This is another way for us to encourage people, to make them understand that we can go back to our old, normal lives, ultimately without masks and without measures, but only insomuch as we get vaccinated. That is the only way back, otherwise we will be fighting the epidemic for years to come."
Meanwhile, the head of the National Civil Protection Directorate, Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Davor Božinović, was asked if measures would be eased given the continuous downward trend in new positive test results: "Moving forward we will increasingly link the holding of events and gatherings to the strict observance of epidemiological measures, and one of the biggest tools in that regard will be possession of the European Digital Certificate."
