Croatia’s 24hr test positivity rate stands at roughly 12.5%

Currently there are 7 991 active positive test results in the country, of which 651 are receiving treatment in hospital. 77 patients are on respirators. 1 037 people have been given a clean bill of health in the past 24 hours. Currently there are 18 710 people in self-isolation.

According to the National Civil Protection Directorate 1 394 new positive coronavirus test results were registered over the past 24 hours. 11 159 tests were conducted over the past 24 hours, putting Croatia's one-day test positivity rate at roughly 12.5%. Nine coronavirus-related deaths were reported. The Director of the Croatian Institute of Public Health, Krunoslav Capak, had this to say about the so-called fourth wave of COVID-19: “Our forecasts do not foresee this fourth wave reaching the heights of the second wave in October and November of last year, precisely because of the higher number of people with immunity. Whatever the case, we are seeing a massive surge in new positive test results right now.”

Since the beginning of the outbreak in Croatia, on February 25th of last year, a total of 389 654 positive test results have been registered, of which 373 182 have since been given a clean bill of health. 8 481 coronavirus-related deaths have been reported. A total of 2 706 528 tests have been conducted. This puts Croatia's overall test positivity rate at just under 14.4%. The country's coronavirus mortality rate at stands at less than 2.2%. When taken as a percentage of the total population this is roughly 0.2%.

As of yesterday, Croatian health care workers have administered 3 356 659 doses of the coronavirus vaccine. 43.76% of the total population has received at least one dose of the vaccine, or slightly more than 52.5% of the adult population. More than 49% of the adult population have received both doses. 8 039 doses of the vaccine were administered yesterday alone.
