Condolences from Prime Minister and Parliament Speaker for firefighter's death

On Monday, Prime Minister Andrej Plenković and Croatian Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandroković sent their condolences for the death of firefighter Goran Komlenac, who died near Dubrovnik on Sunday while performing his duties.

“It was with great sadness that I received the news that Goran Komlenac, a respected firefighter from Dubrovnik, died while fighting a fire yesterday. I express my deepest condolences and respect to his family and the Croatian firefighting community, the employees of the Dubrovnik Fire Department, Dubrovnik firemen and the members of Orašac Volunteer Fire Department,” wrote Andrej Plenković in a condolence message on Twitter.

Gordan Jandroković stated in his telegram of condolences to the family that he received the news of Goran Komlenac's death while extinguishing the fire near Zaton Dubrovački with great sadness.

“In these difficult moments for you, as well as for the entire Croatian fire service, on behalf of the representatives of Croatian Parliament and personally, I express my sincere condolences and deep sympathy,” said Jandroković.

He pointed out that Croatian firefighters show their sacrifice and courage every day in selflessly helping others, and the tragic loss of Mr. Komlenac once again unfortunately pointed out all the danger, difficulty and responsibility of the firefighting profession.

“The entire firefighting community, as well as the citizens of Dubrovnik and Dubrovnik-Neretva County, will certainly remember Goran Komlenac as a man who, out of love for his fellow man, devoted himself to protecting their lives and property. For that, we all express our permanent gratitude to him,” Jandroković wrote in his condolence telegram.
