Croatia reported 246 new coronavirus infections and two deaths from COVID-19 on Tuesday.

Hospitals are treating 189 patients, 17 of whom are on ventilators. Overall, the COVID situation is relatively good, said Health Minister Vili Beroš. He believes Croatia is going to remain in the orange on the EU's COVID map.¸

"We have 246 new cases, which is considerably more than a week ago when we had 180 cases. However, the situation is still relatively good,” Beroš said.

He also added that there could be an uptick in cases after the Alka event in Sinj this past weekend, which was attended by thousands of spectators and flanked by several days of crowded celebrations in the small Dalmatian town.

Prime Minister Plenković said close to 50% of Croatian adults have received at least one dose of the available COVID-19 vaccines. He also said that in the interest of ending the pandemic Croatia was offering the vaccine to Croatians visiting the country from abroad this summer as well as to foreign visitors.
