There were 875 new cases of coronavirus infection in Croatia today, and another 7 people have died. More than 680 patients are in hospital, 81 of them on respirators. In Croatia, almost 8,300 people are currently infected with the coronavirus.

Among the more than 9,500 people who came for testing today, 9% received a positive result.

“Unfortunately the disease has still not dropped in strength and seriousness; we cannot ignore this worsening of the epidemiological situation,” said Epidemiologist at the State Institute of Public Health Iva Pem Novosel.

Vaccination continues. In Osijek-Baranja County it was conducted this weekend with an increase in the interest of citizens to get vaccinated.

“Interest is solid today and in the past few days we have truly noticed an increase in interest among people, especially those who recovered from the disease somewhere in March or April and haven't been vaccinated until now. They are now actually showing up for vaccination,” said Vanja Hmelik from the Osijek County Health Center.

Until yesterday, about 44% of the total population was vaccinated, or close to 53% of the adult population.

The City of Zagreb and Split-Dalmatia County still have highest numbers of newly infected people.

Compared to last week, there were about 70 more new cases in Croatia and about 100 more people in hospital.
