The Association of Croatian American Professionals (ACAP) brought together Croatian and Croatian-American professionals in Seattle from fields including business, science, technology, medicine, culture and media.
The organization’s 10th annual conference also featured Vladimir Brnardić, editor of the Croatian Diaspora Program at Croatian Radiotelevision (HRT). He presented the Voice of Croatia and its role in keeping Croatians abroad connected with their homeland and with one another.
Brnardić: The goal is to connect Croatians around the world
HRT’s the Voice of Croatia produces radio, television and multimedia content in four languages for and about Croatians living outside Croatia.
Brnardić spoke about the work of the Croatian Diaspora Program and the importance of media content for Croatians abroad.
“Our goal is to connect them — both with Croatia and with Croatian communities around the world,” Brnardić said.
He also highlighted the Voice of Croatia as a platform for stories from Croatian communities in different parts of the world, giving them an opportunity to share their experiences and stay connected.
ACAP holds first panel dedicated to media
Media had a special place at this year’s anniversary conference. For the first time in ACAP’s history, its annual gathering featured a panel dedicated entirely to the media, titled *Croatian Voices, Global Reach: Media in the Digital Age*.
The panel brought together representatives of traditional media, digital creators, podcasters and other content producers who share Croatian stories with audiences around the world.
The discussion explored how journalism, social media, podcasts, influencers and new technologies are changing the way Croatia and its diaspora communicate and engage with one another.
Participants also examined how content produced by Croatians abroad can reach wider audiences and bring greater visibility to their communities and stories.
ACAP connects Croatian professionals
Founded in 2014 on the initiative of a group of Croatian-American professionals, ACAP has grown into an international professional network with more than 5,000 members and subscribers and more than 10 chapters across the United States and Croatia.
The organization promotes professional networking, mentorship, education and cooperation, bringing together entrepreneurs, scientists, business leaders, academics, innovators and other members of the Croatian community.
The ACAP Foundation supports scholarships, internships and professional development programs, creating opportunities for young Croatian and Croatian-American professionals.
A decade of connecting Croatia and the United States
The anniversary conference in Seattle is being held under the theme *Croatian Excellence: Celebrating the Decade, Engineering the Century*.
The program covers artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, science and medicine, entrepreneurship, capital markets, education, Croatian identity and language, media and communications, as well as business opportunities between Croatia and the United States.
Speakers from a wide range of fields are taking part, with the conference highlighting Croatian expertise, experience and identity on both sides of the Atlantic.
For the Voice of Croatia, the event provided an opportunity to present its work to an international audience and underline the importance of media in maintaining ties between Croatia and its global diaspora.
