The Croatian Cultural and Educational Society (HKPD) "Matija Gubec" from Tavankut is marking a grand 80 years of existence and dedicated work—eight decades filled with song, dance, unforgettable gatherings, and people who have woven their hearts into preserving Croatian tradition and national identity.
Five generations of folklore dancers met on the ceremonial stage, proving that love for Croatian heritage and national identity knows no temporal boundaries.
"Eighty years is not just a number. These are generations that grew up with the tamburica and folklore, hardworking people who created, preserved, and passed down a legacy, manifestations that brought people together, and moments that became part of our collective memory. These are years of love, sacrifice, challenges, but also of great success, pride, and hope. It wasn't always easy. There were times when it took more courage, more patience, and even more faith in what we do. However, thanks to noble, dedicated, and visionary people, thanks to good decisions, unity, and love for our own roots, 'Matija Gubec' has remained a place of meeting, creation, and preservation of our identity for eight decades," writes the president of the Association, Ladislav Suknović.
"The true value of a society is measured not only by the years of its existence, but by the mark it leaves on people, the values it passes down, and the young generations for whom it opens a path," Suknović concludes.
