Croatia has a new Guinness World Record! In Tinjan, Istria, as many as 285 slicers cut prosciutto simultaneously, achieving a historic success. The new world record was set at the 18th International Prosciutto Fair, which turned Tinjan into the center of Croatian gastronomy, tradition, and pride.

A total of 304 participants set out to break the Guinness World Record. According to the rules, the slices of prosciutto had to be between 0.5 and 1.5 millimeters thick. Ultimately, 285 slicers successfully participated, surpassing the previous record of 205 participants, which had been set in Spain.

The Prosciutto also brings together nearly a thousand prosciuttos in one place, with the 18th International Prosciutto Fair gathered 35 producers from Croatia, Slovenia, Italy, and Spain. Nearly a thousand prosciuttos were presented across an area spanning approximately 2,000 square meters.

"Prosciutto is the pride of Istria, but also of all of Croatia"

"Prosciutto is the pride of Istria, but I can say of all of Croatia as well. It is the king of Istria and it will remain so, which can be seen here today. In Croatia, we have four protected prosciuttos—Istrian, Drniš, Dalmatian, and Krk—and that says enough about their importance," emphasized producer Mladen Dujmović.

With this new Guinness World Record, Tinjan has once again confirmed the importance of Croatian gastronomic tradition and its recognition around the world. Prosciutto is the king of Istria and the pride of Croatia!
