Holy Mass in the Croatian language was celebrated on Sunday at St. Gabriel's Church, led by Father Frano Čugura, the pastor of the Croatian Catholic Mission (HKŽ) Munich. The church was packed to capacity, not only for the holy mass but also because of the program announced across all churches—a concert titled "Agnec Božji" (Lamb of God) performed after the mass by Lado, the Vocal-Instrumental Folk Dance and Song Ensemble of Croatia.
Father Frano introduced and welcomed not only Lado but also the Consul General of the Republic of Croatia in Munich, Vladimir Duvnjak, the Consul of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Munich, Dragan Bagarić, and all listeners in attendance.
As learned from the printed brochure, due to its geographical position, different dialect areas, and socio-historical events, Croatian tradition is rich in sacred folk material and diverse musical practices. The Lado Ensemble has been nurturing this very diversity for many years by performing various programs that have become an integral part of its activities through Christmas and Lenten concerts.
"Agnec Božji" is a vocal-instrumental concert by the Lado Ensemble, first performed in 2025 on the occasion of the Jubilee Holy Year in Rome. The concert follows three parts of Christ's life through the liturgical year – Birth, Passion, and Resurrection.
The faithful were able to hear all three parts performed by Lado, and it is safe to say they left the church with great enthusiasm. Many of them captured these joyful and moving moments with their mobile phones, cameras, and camcorders to take home with them.
Following loud and prolonged applause from the audience after the hour-long concert, the male and female singers sang the hymn "Do nebesa..." (To the Heavens). It was as if the heavens opened up and the Holy Spirit descended upon all those present through the melodious voices. This day at St. Gabriel's Church in Munich will be remembered for a long time.
